In its second year, the 2012 LYDFM brought out close to 35 riders (up from 20 last year) from as far away as Georgia and Missouri, and close to 60 rides at levels from Walk/Trot up to Intermediare I, including the 8 participants of the Emerging Dressage Athlete Program Clinic held concurrently at HGF.
[nbsp]Top names in dressage were on hand to coach, judge, and instruct the riders-- ages 8-21--in all things pertaining to general horsemanship and dressage in particular, with lectures on topics ranging from lungeing the young horse, emergency shoe removal, pre-purchase examinations and training scale to stretching exercises to build the core of the horse, and how to manage college and riding. Parents were on hand to help throughout the week and many local and not-so-local volunteers came to support the youth riders and the show.
