Earlier this month, HGF and Spanish rider Daniel Martin Dockx introduced HGF-bred Encanto XI to dressage competition in Estepona, Spain. Encanto is a 2002 son of Evento (1996 Olympic Spanish Team horse) and HGF's Cantora XVI. This colt showed promise at a young age and a partnership was formed between Daniel Martin and HGF to campaign Encanto in Spain. The horse was started under saddle in Wellington by Gary Smith and then sent to Malaga, Spain in 2007 to be trained by Daniel, who had previously owned and trained HGF's Cosaco to Grand Prix.
Their first-ever outing was a large national dressage show (CDN3) near Marbella, and they did a single Prix St. George class. Of 25 horses, the pair finished third with a 64.7 on the heels of the ANCCE-sponsored entry. A super debut and a promising future! Congratulations Dani and Encanto! We will continue to report here on their progress.
