The evening could not have been more perfect - a late long sunset, cool temps and dry. Over 500 people attended Hampton Green Farm's Chicks-in-Spurs Party, a dinner, horse show, and silent auction to honor special guest Lendon Gray and her Dressage4Kids organization (which puts on Lendon's annual Youth Dressage Festival in New York). Thirty VIP tables, most sponsored by local businesses, were filled under a yellow-striped tent, and more than 200 people gathered on the lawn to eat Chef Frederic's specially prepared meal. Lendon spoke to the audience about her organization and how it has benefitted so many young riders, many of whom have grown into our country's top professionals, including Michigan native Courtney King-Dye, who is representing the US in Dressage in Hong Kong this week. Lendon also narrated a riding demonstration with three horses, ridden by HGF riders Ana Gilmour, Janne Rumbough, and Lauren Staley. A Parade of HGF Stallions and a handling demonstration by Tom Reed was followed by musical freestyles by local dressage riders, including Kiri Sunde, Anne Stahl, Virginia Nolan, Jeana Schuitman, topped off by an Olympic Tribute by Ana Gilmour. This was followed by a dance in the arena, which was especially enjoyed by the visiting children, who were full of energy after enjoying the ice-cream bar!
