Vaquero HGF
Cuatrero IV x Encina HGF by Idilio II
Vaquero is a 2007 gray PRE gelding by Cuatrero IV out of Encina HGF (Idilio II), born at HGF in Fruitport, Michigan. As four-year-old, Vaquero finished in the top 10 at the National Young Horse Championships of Spain, and within the top 5 of the PRE breed. One year later, Vaquero finished again in the top 10, and first of all PRE horses at that level. As a 6 year old, he concluded the season with the third position in SICAB, as the first top-ranked PRE horse bred in the United States. Partners for five years now, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF have been an unbreakable combination with a resume full of podiums. In 2015, Kerrigan took the reins and together they climbed the different FEI levels. As an 8-year-old, Vaquero HGF ridden by Kerrigan won the Bronze Medal at NAJYRC and became the Reserve National Champion. Their successes continued and in 2016, this duo got selected for the European Tour. They concluded the USEF Young Rider Euro Tour in the ribbons at the Young Riders Nations Cup in Hagen (Future Champions), Germany, capping a six-week tour of Europe that included two international shows. In 2018 they debuted in the U25 level with scores around 68%. Two years later, at their peak of their level, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF took home the runner up Title of the Brentina Cup Dressage National Championship.

HGF Horses Shine at the North American Youth Championships 2025
Hampton Green Farm proudly celebrated the success of its U.S.-bred PRE horses at the 2025 Discover Dressage / FEI North American Youth Dressage Championships, held at Flintfields Horse Park. Over the years, HGF horses have achieved great success at the youth categories, such as Vaquero HGF ridden by Kerrigan Gluch ( YR/U25), as well as Campanero HGF along with Justine Boyer at the Junior level. NAYC is the prestigious event, one of the most important youth dressage competitions in North America. This year 2025, Sophia Shults riding Conocido HGF (2012 PRE gelding by Cosaco XI x Luz de Luna HGF), delivered an outstanding performance in the CDIU25 division, earning the individual silver medal. The pair also secured a podium finish in the Intermedia II, adding another achievement to their record ending in second position. Last but not least, Claire Barahona partnered with Morisco HGF (2013 gelding by Camarón IX x Mora HGF) claimed third place with a new personal best score of 71.096%. These results reflect Hampton Green Farm’s commitment to developing U.S.-bred PRE horses for modern dressage and our horses are perfect match for elite sport, and also for youth classes.
Vaquero HGF Steps Down from Sport.
Life has its stages. On Sunday, March 13 2022, Kerrigan closed a beautiful stage of her riding career with Vaquero HGF as this combination said a final goodbye to the competition arenas. Vaquero HGF made his last strides in the competition ring at the national level Grand Prix Special at WEC, OCALA . There is always a horse that marks your life and sports career, and for Kerrigan Gluch, that horse has been Vaquero HGF. Her evolution, from Young Riders to Grand Prix, has been a journey full of all of the joys and sorrows necessary to achieve success. Retiring your first important equine partner is always bittersweet—but Vaquero’s career and success began quite a while before he partnered with Kerrigan. This is his story: Bred in Michigan for Success around the World. Bred in the beautiful state of Michigan, Vaquero HGF has the bloodlines of two of Hampton Green’s most well-loved stallions—Idilio II on the dam side, with Cuatrero IV (Marin Garcia) for his sire. Originally selected by Courtney King-Dye as a future prospect, owner Kimberly Van Kampen was forced to make other plans for Vaquero following Courtney’s untimely departure from the sport. At 3 years old, Vaquero was sent to Spain for his early training, and to see how this American product would do in competition against the best young horses in that country. In the hands of Daniel Martin Dockx, Vaquero became an elite young horse prospect for Spain. He made his national debut as a four year old, finishing in the top 10 at the National Young Horse Championships and among the top five of PRE breed. In 2013, he campaigned at the five year old levels and again finished the National Young Horse Championships in the top 10, and in the top 3 PREs in the country. His last year of young horse competition at 6 years, Vaquero finished 6th nationally, and the highest ranked PRE in the country. The year ended with a bronze medal at SICAB, which is particularly notable in that he is the first PRE horse bred in United States to win a medal in the prestigious PRE World Championships. The Growth of a New Partnership Vaquero HGF and Kerrigan Gluch began their partnership in 2015. Together they achieved many successes representing the colors of American Flag in both the US and Europe. Gluch and Vaquero were one of the most dynamic and successful dressage combinations in the Young Rider level in US. The pair made numerous appearances at the international level, more precisely a total of 36 entries. On February 20, 2015, Kerrigan faced the center line for the first time with Vaquero in Wellington, Florida . As an 8-year-old, under the training of Oded Shimoni, Kerrigan and Vaquero HGF won the Bronze Medal at NAJYRC and went on to become the USEF Reserve Young Rider National Champion. Their successes continued and in 2016, this duo was selected for the European Tour. They concluded their Euro Tour in the ribbons at the Young Riders Nations Cup in Hagen (Future Champions), Germany, the only PRE among the best warmbloods and young riders in Europe. In 2018, with the help of Robert Dover, they debuted in the U25 level with scores up to 68%. Two years later, at their peak of their level, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF took home the runner up Champion of the USEF Brentina Cup. Following his success at U25, Vaquero never showed the same enthusiasm for the Big Tour. After several national starts, rider and owner decided that the horse had given enough and deserved to have a say in his own future. After an early rigorous start in the young horse circuits of Spain, Vaquero became the great companion of battles for a young rider on the long road to Grand Prix . This horse not only taught her the way but allowed her to fulfill her dream of representing the United States on foreign land. At 16 years old, Vaquero has nothing more to prove. On March 13, Kerrigan and Vaquero took their final salute together at X. Still 100% sound and able to enjoy pleasure rides with his special girl, Vaquero will be rewarded with a peaceful retirement at the farm of his birth. Thank you Vaquero HGF for all these years…
A successful Week for the HGF horses at the 2020 US Dressage Festival of Champions
At the premises of Lamplight Equestrian Center, hosting 175 combinations, the fourteenth national championship for the 2020 US Dressage Festival of Champions was held August 18th through the 23rd. The Festival of Champions also known as the United States Youth Championship, brought together the best riders in the country to fight for the coveted national title. On Monday afternoon, the week kicked off with all horses passing the initial veterinary inspection for the Intermediate I USEF Young Adult ‘Brentina Cup’ Dressage National Championship. The competition requires the riders to run three tests in their quest for the national championship: Intermediate II (40 percent), Grand Prix 16-25 (45 percent), and Freestyle U25 (15 percent). Seven horse-and-rider combinations completed their FEI Intermediate II including Kerrigan Gluch and Hampton Green Farm’s 13-year-old P.R.E stallion, Vaquero HGF (Cuatrero IV x Encina HGF), finished in second place with a score of 68.147%. A day later, Kerrigan on her mount Vaquero HGF turned in a clean and polished ride to finish first in the class with a 68.744%. Gluch and Vaquero HGF were currently second in the Brentina Cup overall standings. Everything seemed favorable to fight for the gold position, but on the freestyle, Vaquero felt very fresh. In the end, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF took home the reserve championship. They earned third place for their freestyle performance, with a score of 68.425%. Partners for five years, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF have been an unbreakable combination with a resume full of podiums. Since 2015, both have ridden in American and European shows with very competitive scores and placed in top positions. Children’sDivision Twelve combinations took the Grand Prix Arena for the FEI Children Team Test and Individual Test of the USEF Children Dressage National Championship. Lentisco XVIII (Zafiro XIV x Estupenda II) under the reins of Justine Boyer went from less to more. With an average of 69.500%, Justine and Lentisco XVIII closed in the top 5, while in the individual test, they earned the third position with a remarkable 72.810%. Skimming the podium, the American rider placed fourth overall.
Wellington Season 2019
Highlights of Wellington 2019: Maria Lithander debuts Barbara HGF at Grand Prix in the national classes, with scores to over 70%. Kerrigan Gluch and Bolero are selected for the United States U25 Nations Cup Team, and finish Second in the Freestyle during Friday Night Lights. Kerrigan Gluch and HGF Brio win the FEI Grand Prix 16-25 and FEI Grand Prix Freestyle 16-25 with career high scores for the pair. Kerrian Gluch and Vaquero HGF top the USEF U25 rankings with national Grand Prix scores. Justine Boyer wins the FEI Childrens Division ofthe Floria International Youth Dressage Championships, albeit uncontested. Sophia Schults completes a successful season with Conocido HGF at Third Level. Nina Boyer and Quinn Hunter both achieve multiple first placings in Hunter/Jumper at WEF. Hampton Green to Compete Two Horses in Copa ANCCE Finals at SICAB
Daniel Martin Dockx will compete two HGF horses in the Copa ANCCE Finals at SICAB next week in Sevilla, Spain. SICAB is the annual PRE horse fair that brings out the morphology and sport champion PREs from around the country for a final competition. Qualification for SICAB is always very competitive, and for the Copa ANCCE Dressage Finals pairs compete throughout the year at open competitions to obtain a position in the top ten. The show is attended by more than 200,000 spectators throughout the week and also features championship morphology classes, jumping, Doma Vaquera and Doma Clasica, youth divisions, as well as seminars, clinics, classes, receptions and more. After so many years at the Grand Prix, Dani and HGF are back in the young horse classes with 2 stallions, in the 6 year old and 7 year old divisions. Six year old Mejorano HGF is a gray son of Grandioso, out of Ibiza, born in Michigan and trained by Dani for the last two years in Mijas. Mejorano was competed last year in both international and national classes. Ataturc DUC was purchased in April 2016 from Yeguada Ducal in Germany, and began his competition career in September of this year at the 7 year old level. Having done only two shows in his life, SICAB, with all its commotion and traffic, will certainly be a learning experience for him. The last time HGF competed at SICAB was in 2013 with Vaquero HGF, who finished third overall in the 6 year old division. SICAB classes are all livestreamed at www.sicab.tv and ride times are posted on the SICAB official website.
Vaquero HGF and Kerrigan Gluch Lead Team USA at Hagen Future Champions CDIOY
Nineteen year old Kerrigan Gluch and 2007 PRE Stallion Vaquero HGF concluded the 2016 USEF Young Rider Euro Tour in the ribbons at the Young Riders Nations Cup in Hagen, Germany, capping a six-week tour of Europe that included two international shows. Following a disappointing performance in May at the CDI in Compiegne, France, Kerrigan and Vaquero moved to Krefeld and spent four weeks preparing for the Hagen show with Jan Bemelmans. The Hagen CDIOY, known as the PSI Future Champions show, brings together teams of Young Riders and other youth levels from all over Europe in both dressage and jumping. The United States Young Rider team finished Fifth overall, with Kerrigan and Vaquero the leading pair for the US. In the YR Individual class they finished sixth, and a respectable 10th in both the Team and Freestyle tests-- distinguishing themselves among the best Young Riders and top horses in Europe. Winter Competition 2016
HGF horses were active participants in the Global Dressage Festival circuit this past winter in Wellington. The past four years have seen growth in all of the international levels in dressage in Florida, but none more than the youth divisions. With the exception of Pony, all of the youth divisions in the Wellington shows have more than doubled in class size, and have brought out top riders from as many as 7 countries. Scores have risen to world-class levels and the same can be said of the quality of the horses of the top competitors. The PREs of HGF continue to place among the top scorers in these divisions, attracting more young people to consider a PRE for their competition horse of choice. 19-year old Kerrigan Gluch competed nine year old Vaquero HGF at the Young Rider division throughout the season, achieving consistently good scores from the best judges in the sport. She finished the season with several distinctions: Fourth Overall (and Second American) in the Young Rider Division at the Florida International Youth Dressage Championship; multi-time USPRE High Point winner; and as of 1 April, 27th in the FEI Individual World Dressage Rankings. Kerrigan also debuted HGF Brio at the U25. Brio is a 12 year old black stallion, imported from Spain, with some special abilities for the Grand Prix. Both Kerrigan and Brio are learning this level and becoming more experienced in the ring together, learning to ride clean tests and balance expression with accuracy. This past winter, as their first year at the Grand Prix, they posted scores as high as 69% in the national classes, and 66% in the CDIs. They are hoping their scores are good enough to qualify for the Festival of Champions in August. Kerrigan trains both horses with Wellington-based trainer Oded Shimoni, who has been the significant factor in the development of this young rider and her two horses. Additionally, working students Sarah Roda and Katja Creswick, under the training of Maria Lithander and Lendon Gray, showed HGF schoolmasters Lentisco and Idolo Americano, gaining experience and learning many lessons about competing in the large, high-profile shows. Sarah moved up from the national classes to her first CDIs at the Junior level with Lentisco, and Katja was selected to ride for the Charlotte Bredahl USEF clinic with Idolo. Both Katja and Sarah were part of the 2016 Winter Intensive Training program run by Lendon Gray for Dressage4Kids, held annually at Hampton Green. Marketing Intern Lily Forado from Barcelona provided an unforgettable photo diary of the entire Global Festival. Meanwhile in Spain, Daniel Martin competed Bolero CXLVIII at the Grand Prix in two CDIs—Jerez and Valencia. These were only the third and fourth time Bolero has competed at Grand Prix, and he has shown consistently in the 66-68 range in the GP tests, and over 70% in the Freestyles. Dani is very pleased with the progress of Bolero, who at 12, is becoming more confirmed at the level with much more to offer as he matures. In February, in transit to the Jerez show, Grandioso sustained an injury to the synovial membrane (or sheath) of the left hind tendon. The decision was made in March to do surgery. The minimally invasive procedure removes the torn tissue and any adhesions, and allows the tendon to move freely again. The surgery was done on March 22. As there was no injury to the tendon itself, we predict the horse will be back under saddle in mid-May, with hopes of returning to competition in the summer prior to Rio.
Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF: USEF Reserve National Young Rider Champions
At the USEF Festival of Champions in August at Lamplight Equestrian Center, long-time HGF working student Kerrigan Gluch and HGF's Vaquero were named USEF Reserve National Champion for Young Riders. In this first year together, and their first year at the Young Riders level, 18 year old Kerrigan and 8 year old Vaquero have made steady progress from national shows to international shows, to eventually a Bronze Medal at NAJYRC and now the Reserve National Championship. At Lamplight, Kerrigan was joined by both Lendon Gray and Oded Shimoni. Kerrigan is a product of Gray's Emerging Dressage Athlete and Winter Intensive Training programs, and Wellington-based Shimoni is her current trainer. Kerrigan and Vaquero were up against stiff competition, especially from 21 year old Catherine Chamberlain--a multiple NAJYRC medalist who was recently returned from the USEF European Tour--and Natalie Pai, ranked first nationally going into the competition. In the team test, Kerrigan narrowly edged out Catherine for the win, but the tables turned in the individual test. Kerrigan's scores of 69.298 and 68.289 gave them second place overall and the Reserve National Championship. Kerrigan and Vaquero's plans are to continue to compete this winter at the Young Rider level in the CDIs in Wellington, while working with Shimoni with the YR Grand Prix as an eventual goal.
Two HGF Horses Medal at NAJYRC 2015
This year, two Michigan-bred Hampton Green PREs competed in the NAJYRCs, the FEI Youth Dressage Championships for North America held annually in Lexington, KY. Alexandra Meghi with Iliado represented Team Ontario on Iliado II in the Junior Division, and Kerrigan Gluch with Vaquero HGF represented Region 2 in the Young Riders Division. Both pairs finished in the Top 5 of their division and both horses brought home a medal! One the first day, Alexandra and Iliado were the highest scoring pair for Team Ontario, which won the Gold Medal in the Junior Team Competition. The following day they finished 4thin the Individual Test. In the Young Rider Division, Kerrigan with Vaquero improved her standings every day—moving from 8th in the Team Competition, to 5th in the Individual, and finally taking her place on the podium with a Bronze Medal in the Freestyle. Alexandra is in her second year of Juniors with Iliado—a 2005 gray gelding by Idilio out of Ibiza. Trained by Tina Irwin of Ontario, the pair are ranked in the top 35 horses worldwide by the FEI world rankings for Juniors, having completed a very successful season in Wellington. Kerrigan, a long-time Working Student for HGF, is in her first year at Young Riders, as is 8 year old Vaquero, a gray stallion by Cuatrero IV out of Encina HGF (Idilio). Kerrigan is trained by Oded Shimoni of Wellington. Next stop for Kerrigan is the USEF Festival of Champions at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Chicago in August.
Hampton Green Farm: What's Coming in 2015...
It’s the first day of a bright new year, and normally this is the time we publish our Year in Review report. But now that our website organizes news articles by year, it seems to make more sense to focus on our plans for 2015. 2014 was a great year for us, highlighted by our horses qualifying and competing at the most important championships on both sides of the Atlantic—the North Americans and the World Equestrian Games—and achieving super results and final classifications. But 2014 was also a year of building and planning for a new chapter at HGF, and when a shipment of horses arrived last fall in Wellington the new era started. For the past 4 years, our focus in the show ring has been mainly in Europe. And while Daniel has been campaigning Grandioso, he was also bringing up a number of younger horses, most notably Vaquero HGF—who is familiar to everyone who follows our farm. In October, Vaquero returned to the States, to be competed by Young Rider Kerrigan Gluch. Kerrigan spent 6 weeks training in Spain with Dani last summer to prepare to take over the ride on Vaquero (2007), who was the most successful PRE in Spain in the 5 and 6 year old Young Horse Divisions in that country. Kerrigan’s plan is to compete this coming year at Young Riders, and she will be riding Vaquero this coming weekend in the Robert Dover Horsemastership Week clinic in Wellington. Additionally, we brought back Conquero HGF and a new U25 prospect, HGF Brio—both of which are now in training with our young riders under the oversight of Lendon Gray and Maria Lithander. We hope to have lots of news about these pairs this winter during the Wellington season. We are especially excited to be bringing Grandioso and Bolero back to Wellington to compete at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival during the months of January and February. At this moment, the stallions are in transit and will settle into quarantine in the first few days of January. It has been a long-time dream of ours to compete a PRE in the international Grand Prix in the United States. Following Dani and Grandioso’s successes at three Nations’ Cups in Aachen, the London Olympics, the European Championships, and the World Equestrian Games, the last challenge is making the long trip back to the US for a Florida winter tour. The plan for now is to compete Grandioso in the CDI-W Jan.22-25, and in the 5* the first weekend of February, and for Bolero to do his first Grand Prix during the coming weeks. HGF’s commitment to the youth programs is year-long, starting with our annual “voluntary fundraiser” on January 6 benefitting Dressage4Kids and the Emerging Dressage Athlete Program. This year it’s a Rockin’ the 80s party, sure to horrify all of the young people when they see their parents and mentors in our full 80s glory! We are also proud to host the 2015 Winter Intensive Training program, led by Lendon Gray, which brings 14 riders to Wellington for a winter of education and high-level instruction by Gray and others. Again this year we will be donating 4 stalls to the winners of the Florida International Youth Dressage Championships, held in mid-March. And this coming summer, HGF will sponsor our fourth Lendon Youth Dressage Festival and EDAP clinic in June at the Michigan farm. Our breeding program continues, with 5 foals expected in the spring by sires Grandioso and Faralay II. In 2015 HGF will have a number of young horses in training that will be ready to be sold. These horses range in age from 4-6 and several may be seen this winter at the Wellington location. We know it’s bad luck in horses to plan too far in advance, but other possible destinations for our horses and riders are the USEF Championships at Lamplight in August, the North Americans in KY in July, CDIs in Spain and Germany and with good luck the European Championships in Aachen in August and Spanish Young Horse finals in September! We have a big year ahead and are ready for the challenge. 2015 is already here and we can’t wait to see what it brings. We appreciate the support of all of our friends, and wish you every success in your life and loves!
2013 in Review
It’s hard to believe that this is the 10th HGF Year in Review article that we’ve posted on our site. Those of you who are faithful readers of our annual reports, we hope we’ve kept your attention over the years, and that the story of our farm, its horses and people, will keep your interest for many more years to come. We thought it would be hard to outdo 2012, but 2013 surely had its highlights! Grandioso and Daniel Martin Dockx kicked off the year with a string of CDI wins that started with Sunshine Tour, went to Madrid, then on to a really big victory at the GP and GP Kur at the Glock Show in Treffen, Austria. At every show, the scores went higher, but the 79% in the Kur at Treffen put the pair on the map in Europe. Dani would later say, “In my career, there is now only ‘before Treffen’ and ‘after Treffen’. From there, Grandioso astonished the multi-national crowd at Aachen by finishing 8th in the GP Kur with over 78%, among only the most elite horses of America and Europe. Their performance at the European Championships was consistent with the trajectory of the year, scoring their personal best in both the Grand Prix and the Special and finishing 22nd overall. At the end of the outdoor season for 2013, Daniel and Grandioso were ranked 23rd in the world in the FEI rankings, and the pair returned to Malaga for a period of rest and to continue their work with trainer Jan Bemelmans. In the meantime, Daniel was preparing Michigan-born Vaquero HGF for the National Young Horse Championships. Throughout the year, Vaquero was ranked 6th overall in the RFHE (Spanish Federation) rankings for 6 year olds, and 1st in the Copa ANCCE (PRE Rankings). He maintained this position following the Championships in October, and has since been put on the developing list for Spain. A last minute decision to participate in the Breeders Cup at SICAB in December resulted in the pair taking 3rd and achieving something never done before in the history of SICAB—the first American-born, and possibly foreign-born, horse to medal at the highly competitive Spanish Breeders Finals in Sevilla. Daniel continues to work with several other HGF horses, including Bolero CXLVIII who has made considerable progress since returning to Spain in April this year. In their first national outing at PSG, they scored 70%, and have started to prepare for the Grand Prix, for which the horse shows special talent. On the homefront, HGF horses and riders have had their share of success. HGF-sponsored Rachel Chowanec, on Lendon Gray’s Embrujado XI, was again USEF Reserve National Champion, this time at the Young Rider division. Cuatrero IV and Kerrigan Gluch were invited to both NAJYRCs and the Festival of Champions, until an unfortunate injury sidelined their year. HGF-bred horses and their riders continue to make headlines: Cindy Ramirez Smith and Carina HGF received a Gold Medal from the United States Eventing Association; Nicholas Fyffe and Fiero HGF were added to the 2014 National Futures Squad for Australia; Decoroso HGF and Decente HGF were USDF All Breeds winners with their owners and riders; and all our owners had a great year learning and showing on their horses. This past summer, HGF in Michigan hosted over 15 charity events, impacting our community with support for various causes. Hampton Green Farm was named the 2013 “Agent of Change” by the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce, for its work for local charities. Additionally, HGF hosted perhaps our favorite event of the year for the 3rd time—the Dressage4Kids Lendon Youth Dressage Festival Midwest. This year we had almost 50 riders, a very honest and meaningful dinner speech by Nicholas Fyffe and a fantastic lecture on training for soundness by Dr. Rob Van Wessum. The EDAP program (Emerging Dressage Athlete) and the various Dressage4Kids events are growing nationally and HGF is proud to offer this opportunity to our local youth riders. Many HGF horses found new homes this past year. One of our shining stars in the international Grand Prix circuit, HGF-bred Encanto XI, was sold to Wellington, Florida, shortly after taking second in the GPS at Sunshine Tour. Grandioso’s full brother, Grandioso VII (Adelante) was sold to a prominent breeder in Spain, and two very talented sons of Bolero were sold to an Adult Amateur and a young rider, respectively. Several foals have gone to professionals this year, as well. Nine foals were born at HGF in Michigan in 2013, coming at a time when we need to replenish our herds, especially with several of our older mares retiring. We had a strong crop of 2013 babies, from the performance bloodlines of Albero II and Remache, and we are excited to present them for sale when they are ready. And, not least, the Global Dressage Festival finally resolved all of its legal issues with the Village of Wellington in late 2013. In addition to restoring the property’s inherent rights to be used for equestrian commercial activities, the GDF show grounds is now able to be used year-round, as will the Van Kampen Arena, designated for non-profit use for 28 days per year. The GDF is a game-changer in American dressage, and now that the series has no less than 7 CDIs, including a Nations Cup (concurrent with the Florida Youth Dressage Championships), a 5 Star, and three CDIWs, the GDF will soon establish Wellington as the Winter Dressage Capital for the world. 2014 is now here and we have so much to look forward to! Dani and Grandioso start the road to Normandy, which we hope will lead to a position again on the Spanish team for the World Equestrian Games. The D4K Winter Intensive Training (WIT) program at HGF is kicking off with the Dover Horsemanship clinic this week and our students are gearing up for international level competition this winter. USPRE will host its annual celebration in Wellington on January 21-26. (For more information, see www.usprea.com.) The PRE horse continues to shine in the world, wherever it is given the opportunity. Young horses mature. Riders gain more skills. Magic sometimes happens. Stay tuned and we’ll see if we can do it again this year! All the best for 2014!

Vaquero HGF: First American-Bred Horse to Medal at SICAB
Vaquero HGF: First American-Bred Horse to Medal at SICAB Throughout the year, the PREs of Spain compete in rated dressage shows for qualification in the year-end Copa ANCCE (Breeders Cup) Finals. The top 12 ranked horses of each division are invited to compete against each other for two days at SICAB—the highly visible (un-rated) Dressage Finals held in conjunction with the annual Breed Finals for PRE horses, sponsored by the National Association of PRE Breeders in Spain. Vaquero HGF went into the competition in solid first place in the rankings—having earned his qualifying scores at CDIs at Sunshine Tour, Toledo and other shows. A panel of national judges working at SICAB put him 7th on Day One and 2nd on Day Two, for a finish with the national title of Bronze for the Copa ANCCE 2013 in the 6 Year Old Dressage Division. This is the first time that a PRE horse bred on American soil has achieved such an honor at the annual national celebration of PRE breeders in Spain. Vaquero is a 2007 PRE stallion by Cuatrero IV out of Encina HGF, born at HGF in Fruitport, Michigan. He was sent to Spain in 2010 to begin his training with Daniel Martin Dockx. Together the pair has finished as the top PRE in the official Young Horse Championships of Spain in 2012 and 2013. They are ranked 6th overall (out of 80) at year-end in the RFHE 6 Year Old rankings for Spain, and first among PREs. Daniel and Vaquero are preparing for the Small Tour next year. US-Born VAQUERO HGF Tops 5 Year Old PREs at Spanish National Young Horse Championships
Hampton Green Farm is proud to announce that Michigan-born Vaquero HGF, ridden by Daniel Martin Dockx, topped all PREs in the Five Year Old Division of the Spanish National Young Horse Championships, held last week in Zaragoza, Spain. Additionally, Vaquero HGF was the only PRE to place in the top ten for the division. The Spanish National Young Horse Trials, this year hosted at Feria de Ecuzar, brought out more than 150 young horses in the four divisions (4 Years, 5 Years, 6 Years, and Developing Horse 7-9 Years). There were 60 horses in the 5 Year Old Division, roughly divided equally between PREs and warmblood horses. Qualifiers for the finals were held at rated shows throughout the year, and this year's championship field presented the finest exemplars of the best studfarms in Spain, as well as many high-quality imported German stock. Vaquero HGF is by Cuatrero IV, out of Encina HGF (by Idilio II). Vaquero's sire was imported from the Yeguada Marin Garcia and is closely related to Grandioso III. Vaquero's dam, like Vaquero, was bred at HGF's Michigan location. As a three year old, Vaquero was selected by Courtney King-Dye as a future prospect, however, following her injury, Vaquero was sent to Spain to be started by Daniel. The pair had a very respectful showing at the 2011 Four Year Old National Championships (finishing in the top 10 horses, and top 5 PREs). Competition photos to be posted as we get them.
