TEAM PRE Guidelines for Verden Announced
ANCCE and USPRE released the qualification guidelines for riders aiming to compete at the WBFSH World Championships for Young Horses in Verden 2026. American riders with PRE horses have two possible pathways: joining the Spanish ANCCE team through international CDI results and the Segovia selection event, or qualifying through the U.S. system via USEF ranking lists and qualifying competitions. A. Spanish ANCCE Team Qualification (via RFHE) Horses must first obtain the RFHE required minimum FEI scores of 75% for 5 and 6 year olds, and 70% for 7 years old, at TWO international CDIs in their home countries. Horses must then compete at the CDI in Segovia in June with all other prospects, where the final team selection will take place. From that point, horse and rider are considered part of the Spanish team and are required to follow all schedules and regulations as the other representatives of Spain. Full requirements posted here: https://www.ancce.es/concursos/doma-clasica/caballos-jovenes B. US ANCCE Team Qualification (via USEF) Athlete/Horse combinations must obtain the minimum requirements as outlined in the Selection Procedures posted on the USEF website (see link below) for consideration to be selected to represent the U.S. For U.S. qualifications, 5- and 6-year-old combinations must earn a minimum overall average of 8.2 on their respective USEF FEI World Breeding Championship ranking list. In addition, the Athlete/ Horse combinations must compete in the Preliminary and Final tests in combination at a minimum of two CDIYH or USEF Qualifying Competitions in USEF Qualifying Classes. Seven-Year-Old combinations must earn a minimum overall average of 77.500% on the USEF FEI World Breeding Championship Seven-Year-old ranking list. In addition, the Athlete/Horse combinations must compete in the Preliminary and Final tests in combination at a minimum of two CDI-YH or USEF Qualifying Competitions in USEF Qualifying Classes. Athlete/Horse combinations must apply to USEF for consideration to be selected to represent the U.S. The quota distribution for each age category for the U.S. is two (2) per division. U.S. bred horses (defined as a horse foaled in the United States) will take priority if MERs are met. Applicants are subject to the requirements set forth in the complete USEF Selection Procedures which are posted on the USEF website here: https://www.usef.org/forms-pubs/jdcLB5pi8NY/2025-fei-world-breeding-championships Source USPRE/ANCCE LINK : https://usprea.com/en/news/qualifications-for-participation-in-the-wbfsh-world-championship-of-young-horses-for-american-riders-of-pre-horses

Two Hampton Green Horses in the Top Four in 2018 Brentina's Cup
Following a season in Europe, HGF U25 rider Kerrigan Gluch put two HGF PREs in the top 4 places in the USEF Brentina Cup Finals at the 2018 Festival of Champions, Wayne IL. With Bolero, Kerrigan's mount in Europe, she finished 2nd in the Freestyle and Fourth overall, capping a successful first season together at the short Grand Prix. Normally exuberant Brio was gelded over the summer and is still returning to full fitness, but the pair had an outstanding weekend and finished with the Bronze Medal overall in these national U25 champioships. This year's Brentina Cup was one of the biggest and most competitive since the inception of the U25 finals. The U25 Grand Prix is a growing division in Europe which is feeding adult teams with top talent. Starting this year, the United States Equestrian Federation, in conjunction with Discover Dressage, is developing new programs and focus on this division, and this year's Brentina Cup finals is evidence of its development in the States.

Largest EDAP Clinic to Date at LYDF Midwest 2016
The last weekend in June is the annual Lendon Youth Dressage Festival at Hampton Green in Michigan. The show started six years ago and from the first year, it included a two-day Emerging Dressage Athlete clinic. These clinics--sponsored by Dressage4Kids, a 501C3 non-profit organization, have grown exponentially around the country as the most successful youth dressage program in the United States--over 200 riders will participate in one or more EDAP clinics in 2016. Hampton Green Farm's Michigan clinic was one of the first, and from it some prominent national riders have emerged including NAJYRC medalists and USEF National Champions. At this year's EDAP clinic, there were 15 riders whose applications were accepted for participation. Selection is based on criteria stated on the Dressage4Kids website and includes a video, test submission and a written application. The clinic stretched over three days and Lendon Gray was assisted by HGF resident trainer Maria Lithander to accommodate all the riders. Trainer Andrea Landis spoke to the group about fitness and cross-training, and Dr. Jane Bistline spoke about risk management to avoid the kinds of injuries that she treats most often in riders. All EDAP riders then competed in the Youth Festival--a three part competition consisting of a written exam, a dressage test and an equitation test. This year's Judge, Marilyn Griffin, judged all levels from Walk/Trot to Prix St. George, along with Stephanie Beamer who presided over a demanding Equitation Division. Saturday evening's special speaker was international Grand Prix rider Devon Kane, an inspiring and impressive young professional who described her journey from youth rider to US Nations Cup Team member. Her experiences from the early years of grooming and being a student, to competing with the top riders of the world, were eye-opening and instructional to all who attended. Devon is a funny, approachable, accomplished young woman who easily drew the admiration of the younger aspiring riders. Young Rider Kerrigan Gluch spoke on Sunday afternoon, telling her recent experiences while training and competing in Europe on the USEF Euro Tour. The weekend concluded with an awards ceremony, with top placings for those who excelled in the highy competitive environment. Results show that the youth riders who have consistently been a part of LYDF Midwest are improving and competing now with scores that wiill rank them with the best in the country. Our thanks to all the volunteers and parents who assisted this weekend, for the generous spirit of our sponsors and for our fantastic youth riders, from the littlest (6) all the way up to the seasoned FEI competitors. Full results available on the LYDF Midwest page on Facebook.
Vaquero HGF and Kerrigan Gluch Lead Team USA at Hagen Future Champions CDIOY
Nineteen year old Kerrigan Gluch and 2007 PRE Stallion Vaquero HGF concluded the 2016 USEF Young Rider Euro Tour in the ribbons at the Young Riders Nations Cup in Hagen, Germany, capping a six-week tour of Europe that included two international shows. Following a disappointing performance in May at the CDI in Compiegne, France, Kerrigan and Vaquero moved to Krefeld and spent four weeks preparing for the Hagen show with Jan Bemelmans. The Hagen CDIOY, known as the PSI Future Champions show, brings together teams of Young Riders and other youth levels from all over Europe in both dressage and jumping. The United States Young Rider team finished Fifth overall, with Kerrigan and Vaquero the leading pair for the US. In the YR Individual class they finished sixth, and a respectable 10th in both the Team and Freestyle tests-- distinguishing themselves among the best Young Riders and top horses in Europe. Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF: USEF Reserve National Young Rider Champions
At the USEF Festival of Champions in August at Lamplight Equestrian Center, long-time HGF working student Kerrigan Gluch and HGF's Vaquero were named USEF Reserve National Champion for Young Riders. In this first year together, and their first year at the Young Riders level, 18 year old Kerrigan and 8 year old Vaquero have made steady progress from national shows to international shows, to eventually a Bronze Medal at NAJYRC and now the Reserve National Championship. At Lamplight, Kerrigan was joined by both Lendon Gray and Oded Shimoni. Kerrigan is a product of Gray's Emerging Dressage Athlete and Winter Intensive Training programs, and Wellington-based Shimoni is her current trainer. Kerrigan and Vaquero were up against stiff competition, especially from 21 year old Catherine Chamberlain--a multiple NAJYRC medalist who was recently returned from the USEF European Tour--and Natalie Pai, ranked first nationally going into the competition. In the team test, Kerrigan narrowly edged out Catherine for the win, but the tables turned in the individual test. Kerrigan's scores of 69.298 and 68.289 gave them second place overall and the Reserve National Championship. Kerrigan and Vaquero's plans are to continue to compete this winter at the Young Rider level in the CDIs in Wellington, while working with Shimoni with the YR Grand Prix as an eventual goal.
Two HGF Horses Medal at NAJYRC 2015
This year, two Michigan-bred Hampton Green PREs competed in the NAJYRCs, the FEI Youth Dressage Championships for North America held annually in Lexington, KY. Alexandra Meghi with Iliado represented Team Ontario on Iliado II in the Junior Division, and Kerrigan Gluch with Vaquero HGF represented Region 2 in the Young Riders Division. Both pairs finished in the Top 5 of their division and both horses brought home a medal! One the first day, Alexandra and Iliado were the highest scoring pair for Team Ontario, which won the Gold Medal in the Junior Team Competition. The following day they finished 4thin the Individual Test. In the Young Rider Division, Kerrigan with Vaquero improved her standings every day—moving from 8th in the Team Competition, to 5th in the Individual, and finally taking her place on the podium with a Bronze Medal in the Freestyle. Alexandra is in her second year of Juniors with Iliado—a 2005 gray gelding by Idilio out of Ibiza. Trained by Tina Irwin of Ontario, the pair are ranked in the top 35 horses worldwide by the FEI world rankings for Juniors, having completed a very successful season in Wellington. Kerrigan, a long-time Working Student for HGF, is in her first year at Young Riders, as is 8 year old Vaquero, a gray stallion by Cuatrero IV out of Encina HGF (Idilio). Kerrigan is trained by Oded Shimoni of Wellington. Next stop for Kerrigan is the USEF Festival of Champions at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Chicago in August.
News from Wellington and Spain, February 2014
The Wellington show season is in full swing. Lendon Gray and her Winter Intensive Training students (WITees as they are now known) are hard at work in the HGF arenas or around the barns. Working students Rachel Chowanec and Kerrigan Gluch divide their time between the barn chores for HGF horses, WIT lectures and teaching, training with Maria Lithander, giving lessons, helping out at the USPRE exhibition, competing at Global and, not least, school work! Here is a quick update on what’s been happening so far: USPRE Week: A great success again this year, bringing out more than 600 people for the USPRE Party and exhibition, and hosting a number of events for members and friends. Special performances by Medieval Times and El Portal Andaluz made the evening shine! USEF/USDF Pipeline Clinic: Rachel Chowanec and Embrujado (owned by Lendon Gray) were invited to participate in the first ever USEF/USDF Pipeline Clinic—the brainchild of Robert Dover to bring together the top developing riders at each level to work with the USEF training staff. Rachel is currently schooling Embrujado for the U25, and found the two days of working with Robert Dover, Scott Hassler and Jeremy Steinberg very helpful. She hopes to begin to show at the new level later this season. Florida International Youth Dressage Championhips: This new Championship, started in 2013, brought out 17 riders this year in four divisions with very respectable results. WITee Katrina Sadis (who trains also with HGF blogger Andrea Landis) won the Pony Division on Poldy, a D4K horse. HGF –sponsored Kerrigan Gluch took 3rd place in the Junior Division with Lentisco XVIII. The Championship was held in the CDI classes and all tests were ridden in the International Arena at Global Dressage. Grandioso Update: Grandioso and Dani are preparing for the spring shows, with hopes to attain a place on the Spanish Team for Normandy. This month, a health emergency in Dani’s family prevented them from going to Vidauban as planned, and so they will look to do a local national show in March as warm-up before beginning to compete outside of Spain in April. We will keep you posted on their schedule. Dani reports that all the HGF horses in his care are progressing well in their training.
Back on Top! HGF-sponsored Rachel Chowanec and Embrujado XI are USEF Reserve National Champions for the Young Rider Division
It seems like only yesterday that a very shy 14 year-old arrived in Michigan from Connecticut to try out one of our horses. The little girl was Rachel Chowanec, a Lendon Gray student since she was 5 years old. The horse was Embrujado XI, an atypical PRE with behavioral issues that Lendon Gray couldn’t resist and had to own. All along, Gray had Rachel in mind for the imported gray gelding, and once again, she made the right call. Rachel took Embrujado (whom she quickly renamed “Mouse”) home with her to Connecticut, and the PRE with too much spook and too much bull-fighting instinct suddenly had pink wraps and ribbons in his long mane. It was the start of a transformation that has now taken this pair from nowhere to the National spotlight…twice! They first appeared in Gladstone in 2011 at the Junior Level, surprising many with their focused and technically accurate tests. That year they were Reserve National Champions for Junior Division. Rachel had clearly made a fundamental difference in Mouse’s life, but now we know they were only getting started. In the beginning of this year, Rachel and Mouse started along a rough road, with several small niggling injuries keeping them out of consistent competition. Their show record was sporadic, and fell short of a score to qualify for NAJYRCs. Over the summer, they attended Lendon Gray’s EDAP clinic in Maryland, as well as rode in her clinic at HGF in June. Rachel also schooled with Andrea Landis and Nicholas Fyffe over the summer with a number of her PRE projects. But their inability to show consistently this year kept them out of the top 12 for the USEF National Championships, although they were named as an alternate. Yet luck was on their side, and with only two weeks to go till the competition, Rachel received the official invitation to compete. They traveled to Kentucky not really feeling 100% prepared but very happy to be included. Again this year as in 2011, the harmony of their partnership along with the technical accuracy of their tests brought them straight up to the top of the ranking. They were up against the 2013 NAJYRC Gold Medalist and yet by the second day, the gap was closing. Scoring 65.474 in the Team Test, and 67.237 in the Individual, Rachel and Mouse took the USEF Reserve National Championships again as Young Riders. Rachel’s achievements with Embrujado represent the highest national recognition that a PRE has reached in the United States to date, and she says they have more in store. We can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

Grandioso and Courtney King-Dye Finish Fifth in USEF Dressage Festival of Champions
Nothing but rain for the Festival parade! This year's 2009 Festival of Champions at Gladstone will be remembered for the persistent bad weather and the controversial decision to cancel classes on the final day. The first day's cancellations must have been a bad omen for the weather report the rest of the weekend, and the unseasonably cold and dreary weather never seemed to let up. This, however, didn't dampen the performances of the riders in all of the championship classes, and especially the Intermediare 1 Championship which had strong leaders in the first two places and a very competitive group vying for the next few spots. Unfortunately, with the Freestyle was canceled, Grandioso and Courtney did not have a chance to repeat their strong performance from their first CDI in Wellington when they won the Freestyle with over 72%. Nevertheless, their Prix St. George and Inter 1 tests were impressive and competitive. Courtney drew the first ride of the championship and opened the class with 70.684% at the PSG on Friday. The Inter 1 on Saturday started very strong but troubles in the pirouettes brought the score down slightly to 69.789. The combination of the two scores gave the pair their closely contested ranking of Fifth Place out of 13 for the weekend. All of us at HGF are so proud of both of them for doing so well in the face of the best small tour competition in the country and we congratulate winners Katherine, Jan, and all the other riders on a great show, in spite of somewhat soggy conditions, and the excellent job they all did. It was a privilege to be counted among them!( . . . more photos to come from Gladstone when Mary Phelps returns from Aachen!)
Lendon Gray Clinic Series at Hampton Green Farm Wellington
Hampton Green Farm is pleased to announce that Lendon Gray will be part of the training team this winter at the Wellington FL facility. Lendon is a two-time Olympian, Director of the Dressage Foundation, member of the USEF High Performance Dressage Committee, founder of Dressage4Kids, Honorary Board Member of the United States PRE Association, and long-time coach to Olympian Courtney King-Dye. She plans to come down once a month from her home base in Bedford, New York, to give a training clinic to Hampton Green Farm's riders--Maria Lithander, Ana Gilmour, and Janne Rumbough--and the Hampton Green Farm stallions. A few spots will be made available to other riders of PRE horses, including clients of Hampton Green Farm who are in Florida for the winter with their horses. Auditors are welcome for $20.00 per day (lunch may be occasionally provided for an additional minimum cost). The HGF/Lendon Gray Clinic schedule is: November 17-18 December 15-16 January 16, 17, and 20 February 17, 18 and 19 March 19- 21 For more information, please call Joan at 231-865-6000.
September News:
Now that the festivities and events of August are behind us, HGF is settling into a much quieter month as we enjoy the cooler temperatures of early fall in Michigan. The 2008 foals are quite big now and spending very little time with their mothers. The mares have been re-bred and we have a wonderful line-up of new breedings for 2009 featuring our young and brilliant bay stallion, Bolero CXLVIII . (For more information Bolero's bloodlines and recent championships and scores, see his page under Stallions .) In the first week or so of this month, we've watched several hurricanes swirl around uncomfortably close to the East coast of Florida, but so far luck has been on our side--even during the tornados spawned by Faye that tore through the Palm Beach Equine Clinic, which is practically in our backyard. Barring further hurricane activity, things are shaping up for an outstanding WEF season, and rumor has it that this season will set new records for participation in all the representative horse sports. Reservations for HGF stalls are now finalizing for the 2009 Wellington Season. If you are interested in renting a stall at Hampton Green Farm in Wellington this winter, please call ASAP our property manager Marc Ulanowski at 815-861-3559. Finally, HGF is proud to stand behind Courtney through the recent difficult days and, along with the USEF and the general dressage community, we fully expect the proper authorities to clear her name soon of the allegations that arose during the Olympic games. October schedule coming soon, including Martin Schaudt visit and our travel dates for Wellington . . .
