Chloe Fullar: 2018 Robert Dover Scholarship Recipient for LYDF Midwest
Chloe Fullar of Saint Joseph, Michigan, is the trainer of Sophia Schults, the 2018 LYDF Midwest Grand Champion, and as such, is the recipient of the Robert Dover Scholarhip for one week of training at his Wellington base. Robert offered this scholarship to reward the trainer of the top youth rider in this competition which required a written exam, a dressage test and an equitation class, as a continued effort on his part to support the development of youth dressage. Chloe Fullar is a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medalist and a Gold Freestyle Bar recipient. In recent years, two of Chloe’s students made the 2016, 2017, as well as the 2018 NAYC (formerly known as North American Junior and Young Rider Championships), a competition equivalent to the Olympics for youth. Out of four spots on the team, Chloe’s students took half. One of her students has also qualified for USDF Nationals as a Young Rider, competing against adults in the open division and placing in the top ten. Chloe has qualified multiple horses for Regional Championships over the years, including qualifying two different horses in their respective FEI divisions in their first year of FEI competition in 2017. She has also had students win multiple awards at Regionals, including the 2017 Champion Young Rider Division, 2017 Reserve Champion Young Rider Prix St George, 2017 Dressage Seat Medal Semi-Final Winner, and the 2016 Reserve Champion 3rd Level Freestyle. Chloe has trained with numerous world renown trainers, clinicians and judges for over twenty-five years. She started her own training business over ten years ago and has brought a number of horses and riders up through the Grand Prix level. With a deep understanding of the fundamentals of dressage, her years of dedication have given her an innate ability to read each horse and rider to bring out their potential. Chloe excels in discovering the strength of each horse through a kind way of handling and training, which has not gone unnoticed. She trains horses and disciplined riders of all levels who are looking to increase their abilities and knowledge of dressage. Through her knowledge and experience, she develops her horses physically and mentally so they are equipped to perform to the best of their ability. For 2018, Chloe Fullar Dressage has a full show season planned, with shows throughout Region 2 and Region 3, along with several top clinicians including Dolly Hannon, Lendon Gray, and Anne Gribbons coming to her home base in Southwest Michigan. Chloe would also like to thank her current sponsors for a successful 2017 for their continued support into 2018 including Patrick Saddlery and Stanbridge Master Saddlers, Nate Beyler with Bemer Veterinary, along with Tribute Feeds.

News from Wellington and Spain, February 2014
The Wellington show season is in full swing. Lendon Gray and her Winter Intensive Training students (WITees as they are now known) are hard at work in the HGF arenas or around the barns. Working students Rachel Chowanec and Kerrigan Gluch divide their time between the barn chores for HGF horses, WIT lectures and teaching, training with Maria Lithander, giving lessons, helping out at the USPRE exhibition, competing at Global and, not least, school work! Here is a quick update on what’s been happening so far: USPRE Week: A great success again this year, bringing out more than 600 people for the USPRE Party and exhibition, and hosting a number of events for members and friends. Special performances by Medieval Times and El Portal Andaluz made the evening shine! USEF/USDF Pipeline Clinic: Rachel Chowanec and Embrujado (owned by Lendon Gray) were invited to participate in the first ever USEF/USDF Pipeline Clinic—the brainchild of Robert Dover to bring together the top developing riders at each level to work with the USEF training staff. Rachel is currently schooling Embrujado for the U25, and found the two days of working with Robert Dover, Scott Hassler and Jeremy Steinberg very helpful. She hopes to begin to show at the new level later this season. Florida International Youth Dressage Championhips: This new Championship, started in 2013, brought out 17 riders this year in four divisions with very respectable results. WITee Katrina Sadis (who trains also with HGF blogger Andrea Landis) won the Pony Division on Poldy, a D4K horse. HGF –sponsored Kerrigan Gluch took 3rd place in the Junior Division with Lentisco XVIII. The Championship was held in the CDI classes and all tests were ridden in the International Arena at Global Dressage. Grandioso Update: Grandioso and Dani are preparing for the spring shows, with hopes to attain a place on the Spanish Team for Normandy. This month, a health emergency in Dani’s family prevented them from going to Vidauban as planned, and so they will look to do a local national show in March as warm-up before beginning to compete outside of Spain in April. We will keep you posted on their schedule. Dani reports that all the HGF horses in his care are progressing well in their training.

Meet Mica Mabragana
Mica Mabragana, 24 years old from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is our resident rider this winter in Wellington. Mica has spent the last five years in New Yord as a working student for Lendon Gray and has accomplished quite a bit in those five years. She is a USDF Certified instructor (Training through 4th level), and a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medalist. She represented Argentina at the NAJYRC 2007 on Ballywhim Ardan Mor and at the Young Rider World Cup 2007 in Germany on Granada, Oded Shimoni's recent mount for Israel at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Mica has won several CDI classes as a Young Rider and in 2010 made her Grand Prix debut. At the Region 8 Championships, Mica was the Grand Prix Reserve Champion on Nexus. This winter Mica will be riding HGF's Idilio II, with sites on qualification for the Pan American Games next year, and along with Lendon Gray will continue the schooling of Cuatrero, Grandioso's younger brother who had been in training with Courtney until last spring. We welcome Mica and her clients to HGF
Hampton Green Farm's Idilio II to Retire from Competition
Hampton Green Farm's Idilio II to Retire from Competition Hampton Green Farm and Kim Boyer announce the retirement ofIdilio II from formal Dressage competition. Idilio is a coming 17 year old PRE stallion who was one of the first PREs to compete in FEI-level Dressage in the United States and as of this year is the oldest PRE horse competing at the International levels in this country. In September, Idilio was selected by his rider's native Argentina to represent that country in the 2011 Pan American Games. Over the years, Idilio's competitive career has helped to pave the way for other PRE horses in this country by his correct and impressive performances in the show ring, not to mention his exceptional beauty which has attracted many riders to the PRE breed. His legacy lives on in his offspring which have won National Championships in Open Breed divisions, are consistently scoring over 70% with their amateur and professional owners, as well as topping large fields of FEI four and five-year old classes in Germany and Spain. Idilio II was born in the Huelva region of Spain, close to the Portuguese border. His sire was a full-brother to two-time Champion of Movement of SICAB, Spain's national breed competition. Idilio's dam was the daughter of one of Spain's early Grand Prix competitors, Flamenco XII (who is also sire to France's 2011 National Champion Helio II), and derived from much-desired lines for movement from the Yeguada Marin Garcia. Idilio was first discovered in Spain in 1999 by US rider David De Wispelaere who approached Hampton Green Farm with an investment proposal. When the horse arrived in Florida in 2000 as a five year old, HGF owner Kimberly Boyer decided to buy out De Wispelaere's portion and keep the horse, a decision which eventually led to the exclusive focus of HGF as a PRE breeding and showing operation. Idilio was trained to Prix St. George level by De Wispelaere who competed him successfully at the national levels in Wellington prior to David's move to Europe. Afterward, Pati Pierucci took over the training of Idilio. During this period, he was shown at Grand Prix and competed with very promising scores in national classes in both Michigan and Florida. In 2006 German Olympian Martin Schaudt worked with Pati and Idilio and was so impressed with his nature, trainability and athleticism that he purchased one of Idilio's foals, Icono HGF--currently competing with great success at the Five Year Old level in Germany with his wife Jasmin Schaudt. In 2008, Maria Lithander of Wellington Florida took over the ride on Idilio and the decision was made to return to the Small Tour to work out some training issues that had developed following an injury. Maria's work with Idilio eventually saw him ranked in the USDF Top 15 Small Tour horses in the country in 2009. Currently Idilio is ridden and competed by long-time Lendon Gray student and former international Young Rider Mica Mabragana who, following a year of hard work and excellent riding, received the crowning honor of Idilio's career--the invitation from a national federation to represent a country at an international championship. "Now is the right time to take Idilio out of formal competition," says owner Kimberly Boyer. " Mica, Lendon and I feel that Idilio has put in many years under the pressure of multiple riders and lots of competitions, and now he has earned the right to move to the next chapter. Idilio is still very energetic about his work and Mica hopes to play around again with the Grand Prix movements. She is planning to prepare several freestyles for him to be able to perform for exhibition. He is the kind of horse that will want to be worked until his last day, but now without the tension of showing. We are hopeful to showcase his beauty and abilities for many years to come, if he wants it. And of course, he will continue to be a breeding stallion for HGF mares." Idilio did not achieve his full potential at Grand Prix due to many factors, not the least of which was his being one of the first Spanish Horses in the United States to enter the top competitions. There were both ups and downs in Idilio's career, but to all who have seen him or who have had the privilege to sit on him or train him, he is unforgettable. Career Highlights: Over 25 FEI-Level Firsts or Second Placings, 6 at Grand Prix 8 Show or Association FEI High Point Awards In the Ribbons at 3 USDF Regional Championships at FEI-Levels. Multiple USDF All Breeds Champion for PRE Horses at Prix St. George through Grand Prix. Ranked in Top 15 National Prix St. George horses in 2009. Top 20 Adult Stallions at SICAB, 2002. Where Are They Now: Icaro HGF and Annie Morris
Annie Morris is a young professional from Connecticut. In 2010, Annie was chosen by the Dressage Foundation from the country's top Young Riders to be one of the Olympic Dream Program participants and travel to Germany to meet and observe top international trainers in our sport. "Annie has been riding since she was six, and focusing on Dressage almost immediately. She grew up in Arizona, working with many different types of horses including her own Arabian gelding that she got at age four and trained herself through Grand Prix. She has competed through Prix St. George and has received her silver medal. She also is a certified USDF Instructor through 4th level. Annie has been training with Lendon Gray for the last three and a half years, arriving in New York as a working student but now as an assistant trainer and the barn manager of HW Dressage (formerly Gleneden Dressage). She’s ridden in clinics with several amazing teachers including Lilo Fore, Debbie McDonald and Conrad Schumacher and plans to become an international quality trainer."(http://www.dressagefoundation.org/Olympic_Dream_2010.htm ) In 2009, Annie became the owner of Icaro HGF, at that time a newly started three year old gelding son of Idilio out of Candela. Like his sire, Icaro is tall and impressive, with expansive gaits and a good mind for the work. Annie has this to say about their progress: "Icaro is doing very well. He loves living here in CT, he lives outside in a huge lush pasture. I have been riding him with Beth Baumert and Lendon frequently and he is really growing up and finding his balance better and better. I am enjoying him andtogether we are learning a lot. This yearI am hoping to bring him to someclinics and attend some shows just to get him out of the barn and see what somejudges or other prefessionals think of him. In any caseI really adore him and am looking forward to a great summer with him!" Icaro is Annie's first PRE and we are excited to see where they will go together.

Spring News
April and May are traditionally quiet months at HGF in Wellington as the horses wind down from their show season in Florida and the riders take a breather. In April, Ana Gilmour attended her last two weekend seminars as she prepares for her USDF Trainers Certification exam this summer. Maria is experimenting with some play piaffe and passage exercises with the three younger horses, with help on the ground from Juan Matute. We plan to do one more smaller show in Florida before the horses ship up to Michigan on the 20th.As the weather warms up for Spring in Fruitport, our attention turns to our mares and babies. In April, HGF Michigan was the site for PRE Studbook Revision for 11 horses from around the area--five from HGF--- and all passed the keen evaluation of ANCCE vet Ana Gragera. All the young horses are now turned out round the clock and are enjoying the warmer temperatures by rough-housing with their pasture mates and even jumping the occasional fence. Our summer staff is getting ready to work with our large group of two to four year olds who will either begin or continue their education in manners and equitation. We are expecting a good group of babies this year from sires Bolero and Cosaco. The mares are in good health and we should have offspring on the ground in June. Our wonderful vets from West Michigan Veterinary Service pride themselves on 100% accuracy in ultrasound gender prediction--and they have never been wrong at HGF. This year we are expecting one of our largest crops of boys, including a number of bays (castanos) with the most desirable performance bloodlines out of Spain and at HGF--Albero II (Grandioso/Adelante/Cuatrero), Remache (Camaron), and Utrerano (Bolero). Our grays will feature the champion dressage bloodlines of both Cosaco and Idilio, and we expect males and females. Finally, HGF is happy to support and promote the PRE Expo at the end of May in City of Industry, California. We plan to attend this event, hosted by USPRE, which will bring together the largest group of PRE breeders and stock in the country. For more information, see http://www.feriadelcaballoespanol.com/. HGF Offers COSACO XI for Outside Breedings
After many years of turning down requests for stallion services, we are pleased to announce that we will now offer breedings to Cosaco XI beginning this spring. Cosaco was regretfully retired this year from all dressage competition, and will now begin his new role of professional breeding stallion.Cosaco XI is an imported 16 hand 1996 grey stallion, approved for breeding by the Cria Caballar in Spain. Cosaco had a brief but notable career as one of the first PRE stallions to compete at Grand Prix in the United States. In 2006, he was USDF All Breeds Horse of the Year at the Grand Prix level with a median score of over 65%. He is classic in type, with special aptitude for piaffe and passage--receiving a 10 for piaffe his first year at Grand Prix. He has a gentle, affectionate personality, a moderate temperament under saddle, and can be handled by an amateur or child. He knows the difference between the schooling and show rings, and enjoys rising to the occasion of competition. (His scores and awards are listed on his webpage under Stallions.)He is a favorite among dressage spectators and photographers, who have used his image on websites, articles, numerous publications and advertisements. Cosaco’s offspring are exceptional, in both conformation and movement. There are a number of them on the ground at HGF, and all who have been x-rayed for pre-purchase have shown clean radiographs. This is the first time that Hampton Green Farm has offered one of its performance stallions for outside breedings, and HGF stands by the quality of the stallion and his ability to improve dressage performance potential in any breed.Fee: $2500.00Contact: hamptongreenfarm@aol.com; 231-865-6000
Gold Coast Opener Results: the Teamwork of Ana Gilmour and Bolero
Ana Gilmour continues her successes in Wellington with great results on HGF's young stallion Bolero. At the Gold Coast Opener on January 23-25, Ana again scored over 70% with Bolero and added another big win to his show record. Ana finished competitively in all classes with both Bolero and Camaron and she is now looking forward to the Wellington Classic Spring Challenge on February 6-8. Bolero is a 2004 Bay PRE Stallion out of Utrerano VII. Not yet 5 years old and still very much a colt, Bolero has already won many ANCCE breed awards and USDF Sport Horse awards, as well as scored over 70% at every dressage show in which he has competed. Bolero is a promising future prospect for the FEI show ring for HGF, and is sire to a number of 2009 HGF foals.
