Grandioso III
Adelante x Grandiosa by Sevillano IX

As a competitor, Grandioso exuded class and prestige, a groundbreaker for his breed on both sides of the Atlantic, To this day, he remains one of the highest scoring PRE horses in international dressage worldwide. As a breeding stallion, Grandioso produces excellent offspring, several of which have gone on to compete at international Grand Prix (including Mejorano HGF). Typically baroque in type, Grandioso excels for his modern movement with uphill expression and and extraordinary hind leg action. Grandioso is the rare prototype for the baroque horse with all the benefits for collected work who also displays a high level of ability for the lengthened gaits. He is a Qualified Stallion in the LG-ANNCE studbook (official studbook for the PRE horse in Spain). OFFSPRING Mejorano HGF: In 2018, the American bred Mejorano HGF represented Spain in the World Championships of Young Horses in Ermelo. Grandioso III x Ibiza by Galan XVI

From Michigan to the world stage: Mejorano HGF. Son of two-time Olympian Grandioso III, he has followed the footsteps of his father. José Daniel Martin Dockx was in charge of developing his training. In the young horse classes, they finished in the top 5 highlighting the bronze medal in six-year-old (SICAB) and the silver medal in the 7-year-old category.  In 2018, the American bred Mejorano HGF represented Spain in the World Championships of Young Horses in Ermelo (as a seven-yearold). A year later, he made the smooth transition to Intemediate A/B with scores above 72%. At the end of 2019 he broke the ice in Grand Prix. In 2020, Kerrigan took the reins and started her partnership with Mejorano HGF.  The winter of 2021 Kerrigan made a big step on her career and tested the waters with Mejorano HGF in the Grand Prix (their own debut). Since then, they’ve scored twice above 70% and 72% in GPS.

HGF & Kerrigan part ways after 15 years

Kerrigan Gluch is leaving Hampton Green Farm in Ocala, Florida after 15 years competing the stable’s P.R.E. horses. Kerrigan, aged 29 and originally from Michigan, has competed HGF horses on both sides of the Atlantic. Kimberly van Kampen, the owner of the stable, said Saturday: “Kerrigan is a wonderful person who has been a part of Hampton Green Farm for 15 years. She has treated my horses like they were her own, and she has always been a most trusted friend and accomplished rider. “We support her in any decision she makes for this next chapter in life and look forward to her successes. It’s been a real joy to have been her sponsor all these years.” Kerrigan became the first American to be selected on a pure Spanish horse, Mejorano, for an official USA team for Europe that paid off with a personal best score in the CDIO4* Nations Cup of the Netherlands Grand Prix Freestyle in 2024. She told DRESSAGE-NEWS.com: “The past 15 years with HGF have been truly special. I’ve had the opportunity to grow through the levels, developing not only as a rider but as a professional, while working with some incredible horses and people who have shaped me along the way. I am especially grateful for the unique experiences and travels this journey has given me. I will always value these opportunities. “I am deeply thankful for all the support Kim has given me and will always recognize the significant role she has played in my career. “As I look ahead, I’m excited to take some time to be with family and explore new opportunities. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.” Hampton Green hired Jose Daniel Martin Dockx of Spain as the in-house trainer, and he moved to Ocala. The rider competed Hampton Green’s Grandioso, the sire of Mejorano, at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics as well as the 2014 World Equestrian Games and the 2013 and 2015 European Championships. Ten Years of Grandioso’s Legacy

Following the social media tren, this year marks a decade of the Grandioso era (2016–2026). In 2016, Grandioso III and José Daniel Martín Dockx competed at the CDIO5* Aachen and later represented Spain at the Olympic Games in Rio. Today, the story continues at Hampton Green Farm, where a new generation of riders; including Kerrigan Gluch and Antonio Crespin; are developing the stallion’s offspring, carrying his influence into the future of the breed such as Ferro HGF, Santiago HFG  One of the most importants offsprings of Grandioso has been Mejorano HGF. This horse was trained by José Daniel Martin Dockx from 6 years old up to GP (2019) . Mejorano HGF represented Spain at the World Championships of Young horses in 2018 at the 7 years old class. In 2019, Kerrigan Took the reins of the horses and started her GP campaign in 2020. HGF keeps bringing excellence at the WEC during the CDI3*

May1st.  A phenomenal week of International equestrian competition concluded on Sunday, April 16th  at WEC. Emotions had run high last weekend for HGF TEAM , we are  still on a cloud nine. Justine and Campanero HGF started the week closing the podium on  CDI Juniors Team Test with a personal best of 66.313. On Sunday , she collected  the title of Freestyle Winner with an overall score of 73.067%. She chose her signature Moana’s music with an  exciting choreography to make her freestyle stand out.   We are over the moon with these results. In a space of three/four months, Justine and Campanero have climbed and in their five international outings, three of them have been victories.    Last but not least, Kerrigan and Mejorano HGF  have been unstoppable this winter season.  The Kick-Off of the CDI3* Ocala was  excellent with  third place of Kerrigan Gluch and Mejorano HGF on THE GP Qual. for GPFS (67.913%).  The icing on the cake came on Friday Under The Lights during the Freestyles. This duo danced to the Spanish melodies of “La Mancha” and after the first extended trot, the shouts and ovations sprung from the bleachers.    “We did that on purpose for the Freestyle to start strong, and I think it helped us,” revealed Gluch. “In a way, [the crowd support] takes the stress away a little bit. Not that you want to be distracted, but the crowd likes this, so I get to enjoy it even more than I already am. It makes me relax a bit. I like the feedback.”“I really wanted to go show him off,” said Kerrigan of the 12-year-old PRE gelding by Grandioso x Galan XVI owned by Hampton Green Farm. “I always put a little pressure on myself to do the best I can, but I try not to put that on him. I think I was able to do that tonight, which led to a good score and good test. I think I rode well, and he performed really well.” As the crowd favorite of the night, Kerrigan Gluch Mejorano HGF closed the podium  with a personal best score of 74.755% HGF keeps bringing excellence in Dressage. Special thank you to all the team, but most of all to Maria Lithander for being our backbone and outstanding trainer.

HGF Culminates Wellington 2023 season with an international victory

Eight years later, history repeats itself: March 18th will be remembered the the day that Mejorano HGF followed the steps of his father Grandioso ,  winning a CDI Grand Prix level in Wellington, Florida. With a lot of emotions  to process, Kerrigan and Mejorano HGF were the first ones to go into the arena for the GPS of the CDI 3* on Saturday. The judges rewarded the piaffe and the passage with multiple 8s and even 9s  With a final score of 68.872%, Kerrigan and Mejorano HGF cantered with joy in their lap of honor (GRAND PRIX SPECIAL)  This first win of Kerrigan is the result of her hard work and perseverance.  We are extremely happy of this combination and what the future will bring. Show by show, this duo keep improving and winning more experience at the senior level. Stride by stride they are working through adjustments to improve their results HGF culminates Wellington 2023 season with the best icing on the cake, a victory and the PRE breed on top of the leaderboard.  “He’s an extraordinary horse, super talented in all aspects of the grand prix,” said the 26-year-old. “I’ve really been focused on the flow of everything – in and out of transitions – so everything had a lot of harmony and that was the main goal for this weekend, and I think I accomplished that. My piaffe/passage tour was quite smooth and I was happy with how the changes felt in the ring. It’s a very long test, but I was able to settle in and enjoy it. “Mejarano is a product of the breeding in the States that we strive for. It’s special to be able to do it with him knowing that he was born here and show that off. He tries his heart out for me every time,” added the Ocala-based Gluch, who has recently started training with fellow Ocala rider, Shelly Francis, after years training with Charlotte Bredahl. “Mejorano has always had a talent for piaffe/passage,” she added. “It’s taken me a few years to tune that all up so it shows in the ring, where his rhythm and cadence and activity come together. He has a very expressive front end to be able to show off the half-passes along with the changes is very fun to do.” This wouldn’t be possible without the guidance of Maria Lithander and her endless support. Next stop for us is the CDI 3* in WEC Ocala in a month. We are ready for it

OCALA CDI - Dancing Under the Lights in the CDI3*

International dressage returned to World Equestrian Center (WEC) in Ocala, Florida, on Thursday 14 April 2022, with CDI3* competition sponsored by Hampton Green Farm and Discover Dressage. In a Grand Prix field of 26 entries, Kerrigan Gluch and Mejorano HGF started on Thursday gearing up the P.R.E engines in the CDI3* claiming the sixth position in a large class with a Personal Best in the GP with a 70.217% Even if we were full of joy, reasons to be happy were not over. On Friday Under the Lights, Kerrigan danced Grandioso’s Kur with Mejorano HGF. The atmosphere was magic, electrifying and above all mesmerizing. The Spanish melodies echoed in the Grand Arena and Kerrigan delighted the spectators, who roared into applause, shouts and ovations. At the end, the pair was all smiles after scoring a personal best of 73.725% for the yellow ribbon. Gluch was also able to tick off a goal on her list by competing in this freestyle in the Grand Arena. When I saw this facility before I moved here, I said, ‘I want to go down that chute and under the lights. I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but it’s a goal,’” she recalled. “I didn’t know if there would be people in the stands, and it was very full. It was incredible to trot in and see everyone there under the lights. It was a dream come true. To be able to do that tonight in front of a big crowd and representing Kim and Hampton Green Farm well and proud and showing off the breed is really special.” April 15th will be remembered as the night that Mejorano HGF followed the steps of his father.

HGF culminates the 2021 season with multiple ribbons

This past weekend, all eyes turned to the World Equestrian Center for another CDI and National Dressage show. Hampton Green Farm horses competed in several levels in both the national and international rings.  The MVP of the HGF TEAM was clearly Kerrigan Gluch with Mejorano HGF (By Grandioso III), who claimed another GP international podium at the CDI3*. Mejorano HGF is a talented 10-year-old gray gelding whose path in the Big Tour has just started. On Friday, they were performing their second international GP. Rookie mistakes dropped the score to 66.609%. But, on Saturday, the bitter taste turned into a sweet one: the duo climbed up to the second position with a new personal best of 70.106%. Judges were mesmerized with the collected exercises, such as passage and piaffe, rewarding them with multiples 7,5 and 8s.  Additionally, Kerrigan completed the show with a third and a win in the national GP with Vaquero HGF.   The effort and discipline of Sophia Schults are endless, and this weekend her work has paid-off.  Over the years she has built up the training of her own Conocido HGF. As she prepares for the Young Rider levels, Sophia competed in two PSGs last weekend at WEC. Both days she won her competitive classes with scores close to 69%. Both Sophia and Kerrigan were trained by Charlotte Bredahl, who commented: “It has been a great week at the CDI at the WEC in Ocala. I came up here to coach the riders from Hampton Green Farm. They all did great. Sophia Schults won both of her FEI test of Choice classes riding the Young Rider tests. Maria Lithander does her daily training and I do weekly virtual lessons. Maria herself finished 4th in the open Grand Prix on her own HGF Barbara.  Kerrigan Gluch ended up second in the CDI Grand Special with a 70% on Hampton Green Farms talented Mejorano. I am so proud of them for doing so well in only their second CDI together. The test had many highlights. Kerrigan also finished 3rd in the open Grand Prix on HGF Vaquero. I have been coaching Kerrigan for over three years now and it is exciting to see her move into the Senior ranks and do so well.”  In other news, Sam Stenger and Olivia Stille continue to confirm themselves at Third Level with respectable scores and placements in last weekend’s large classes. Hampton Green Farms culminates the 2021 season with multiple ribbons and on top of the boards.  But more important: with the engines ready for the new upcoming season 2022 at WEC Ocala.

HGF rocks at WEC

Last Weekend (October 21-24) HGF horses were on fire at the World Equestrian Center.  Justine Boyer  and Campanero HGF  (by Camaron IX) captured a double victory in the Third Level Test 1 with scores above 68%. Justine is ready for a smooth transition to juniors level next year.  More over, Kerrigan Gluch & Mejorano HGF, a son of two-time Olympian Grandioso II, made their American debut in CDI 3* competition, following a successful early career in Spain with José Daniel Martin Dockx that included participation on the Spanish Team at the  Young Horse World Championships in Ermelo in 2018. Kerrigan and Mejorano HGF, the new combination, received a score of 67.283% in the Grand Prix On Saturday, they performed the Grand Prix Special and finished third  (68.723) . The pair impressed the judges with their piaffe earning high marks (for their skillful rhythm).   They took third place both days.  Very excited about the future, Kerrigan said:  “I am very proud of Mejorano in his debut in the Grand Prix Arena. It has been a dream of mine to compete at thus level and I’m so grateful to be able to do it with such a special horse. Thank you Kim Van Kampen for all of the love and support. We are eager to continue training as we prepare for the next competition”.  Sophia Schults competed one of the youngest prospects, Cartujano FSR  and showcased the wonderful gaits  he has.  Last but not least,  Samantha Stenger and Alivia Stille  showed Diva HGF (By Cuatrero IV)  and Cuarzo HGF (By Cuatrero IV) respectively. They performed new exercises in order to move the horses into new levels for the upcoming season.  We are so proud of everyone for their great rides, dedication, and hard work! HGF P.R.E horses were once again in the scene and they did not disappoint

HGF US-Bred PREs Take Silver and Bronze at SICAB, World Championship of PRE Horses

Two of Hampton Green Farm's Michigan-bred young horses took home medals from SICAB 2018--the World Championship of PRE Horses--from the Finals of the Copa ANCCE. Competing against the highest ranking PRE horses in the country of Spain following a year of qualification, Mejorano HGF attained a Silver Medal and Campanero HGF the Bronze in the 7 Year Old and 5 Year Old Divisions respectively. Both horses represent the bloodlines that characterize the output of HGF, primarily the lines of Olympic stallion Grandioso III from Yeguada Marin Garcia. Trained and competed by Jose Daniel Martin Dockx, Mejorano HGF is completing an outstanding year in which they formed part of the first all-PRE team to represent Spain in the World Championship of Young Horses in Ermelo, Netherlands, in August. Campanero HGF was long-listed for the same event, and has maintained his standing among a very competitive field of 5 year olds in Spain. From Michigan to the World Stage: HGF Horses in FEI Championships Summer 2018

Two Michigan-bred PRE horses from Hampton Green Farm will represent the USA and Spain this summer in FEI Championship shows. Mejorano HGF, a son of two-time Olympian Grandioso III, has been selected to represent Spain in the World Championships of Young Horses in the 7 Year Old Division. A rigourous qualifying agenda beginning in January of this year was established by ANCCE, the national PRE breed association which represents Spain in the Championships. Among the best horses from the best stud farms in Spain, American-bred Mejorano HGF, ridden by Jose Daniel Martin Dockx, topped the 7 Year Old ranking and was subsequently selected by team trainer Jurgen Koschel for his spot in the 2 horse quota for the division. On the other end of the spectrum, long-time schoolmaster Idolo Americano (Idilio x Escapada) has found a new career in the hands of Sophia Schults of Saint Joseph, Michigan. In two years, 17 year old Sophia has taken Idolo from FEI Junior to FEI Young Riders and has now qualified for the FEI North American Youth Championships for Region 3. Both Championships will be held the first week of August, in Ermelo, Netherlands and North Salem, New York respectively. HGF is a breeder of PRE horses for dressage and has consistently produced internationally relevant competitors. Our accomplishments include: 2 Olympics--London and Rio 1 World Equestrian Games--Normandy 7 Nations Cups in Aachen and Wellington, for both US teams and Spain 3 National Champions or Reserve (Spain and US) 3 FEI North American Championships, with Individual Medals 1 World Championships for Young Horses HGF has an exceptional line-up of young sale horses in training with international potential. HGF's Ataturc and Mejorano Bring Home the Medals at SICAB World PRE Championships 2017

Hampton Green's two entries in the Copa ANCCE Finals at SICAB 2017 topped their classes of world-class PRE young horses from the best breeders worldwide. For a second time, HGF competed a Michigan-bred PRE in the SICAB 6 year old finals, and for the second time brought home the Bronze Medal. Our last time to compete at the World Championship of PRE Horses was in 2013, when Jose Daniel Martin Dockx and Vaquero HGF were bronze medalists in the 6 Year Old division. This year, Dani returned to the 6 Year Olds with Mejorano HGF, son of Grandioso III and Ibiza, bred in Michigan. A close scoring level, juried by 6 international judges over two days, finished with the HGF pair again taking the Bronze with scores of 77.8 and 75.2 in the Preliminary and Final tests respectively. Mejorano HGF was sent to Spain from the US in 2015 for training with Dani and we expect him to continue to improve and strengthen as he moves up the levels to the more technical tests. There was no question, however, who would bring home the Gold in the 7 Year Old Division. HGF's Ataturc was the clear favorite of the two days of competition. With scores of 74.79 and 76.41, Ata and Dani topped a class of high quality, well-trained 7 year olds PREs. Ata has only just begun his show career and has won each of the 6 classes he has entered to date. He was purchased in 2016 as a 6 year old from his breeder, Yeguada Ducal--a PRE breeder in Germany. The horse had been backed at the three gaits but little else, having been used for breeding prior to coming to Mijas. Ata quickly took to his new career in dressage, and Dani decided he was ready to go into the show ring for the first time just two months ago at the Dos Lunas CDN in September. Ataturc is from the bloodlines of ANCCE Elite Stallion Ermitano on his dam's side, and the son of Activo VII, known to riders from the days of the CAR-ANCCE program. One note on the Doma Clasica (Dressage) competition as a whole--the presence of high-quality and competitive mares! Mares are now the choice of many of the breeders and riders in Spain for dressage and are making their ascension to the top placings in each class, from 4 year old to Grand Prix. With changes to the selection process for the World Championship of Young Horses (Ermelo) planned for next year which will give preference to qualifed PREs in Spain, the path is now wide open for both mares and stallions to be recognized for their quality at the young horse levels. Hang on for the ride! Photos by Lily Forado

Hampton Green to Compete Two Horses in Copa ANCCE Finals at SICAB

Daniel Martin Dockx will compete two HGF horses in the Copa ANCCE Finals at SICAB next week in Sevilla, Spain. SICAB is the annual PRE horse fair that brings out the morphology and sport champion PREs from around the country for a final competition. Qualification for SICAB is always very competitive, and for the Copa ANCCE Dressage Finals pairs compete throughout the year at open competitions to obtain a position in the top ten. The show is attended by more than 200,000 spectators throughout the week and also features championship morphology classes, jumping, Doma Vaquera and Doma Clasica, youth divisions, as well as seminars, clinics, classes, receptions and more. After so many years at the Grand Prix, Dani and HGF are back in the young horse classes with 2 stallions, in the 6 year old and 7 year old divisions. Six year old Mejorano HGF is a gray son of Grandioso, out of Ibiza, born in Michigan and trained by Dani for the last two years in Mijas. Mejorano was competed last year in both international and national classes. Ataturc DUC was purchased in April 2016 from Yeguada Ducal in Germany, and began his competition career in September of this year at the 7 year old level. Having done only two shows in his life, SICAB, with all its commotion and traffic, will certainly be a learning experience for him. The last time HGF competed at SICAB was in 2013 with Vaquero HGF, who finished third overall in the 6 year old division. SICAB classes are all livestreamed at www.sicab.tv and ride times are posted on the SICAB official website.

New Generation of HGF Young Horses Debut in Sotogrande

Daniel Martin Dockx brought three of his new horses to the CDN*** in Dos Lunas in September--Ataturc DUC, Mejorano HGF and Campanero HGF--to compete in the young horse classes among a large group of competitors from around the Andalucia region who are hoping to qualify for the finals of the Copa ANCCE at SICAB in November. It was the first time in the show ring for both 7 year old Ataturc and 4 year old Campanero, Mejorano having shown several times this year in the 6 year old division. The results were confirming of Daniel's young horse training program. Ata and Campanero won their respective classes both days, while Mejorano finished the weekend second in his division. Ataturc was purchased last year from Yeguada Ducal, a PRE breeder in Germany, and has quickly adapted from breeding stallion to his new role of dressage horse. Not knowing how he would do in a show setting, Dani was very pleased with the chestnut's focus and consistency. They were awarded stand-out scores of 72.21 and 73.68, topping a very small 7 year old class. Campanero HGF was born in Michigan, Camaron IX x Quintera XII. At just four years old, the young stallion showed expression and quality, earning scores of 78.4 and 77.8, coming first in a large class of excellent horses, juried by a panel that included a judge from Ermelo 2017. Mejorano HGF (Grandioso x Ibiza) rode two consistent 6 year old tests, but was received quite differently by the two panels, receiving 69.7 in the Preliminary and 75.4 in the Final. Mejorano is a son of Grandioso, and is capable of even greater expression and scope than his father, but is developing consistency as he grows and gets stronger. Mejorano is qualified for SICAB, and we hope to qualify Ata as well in October. The decision was made not to push Campanero for SICAB qualification, given his young age. Our thanks as always to Lily Forado, who traveled from Barcelona to Sotogrande to provide these beautiful photos for us.
