His elegance but more precisely his exceptional movements have attracted everyone.  Idilio’s legacy lives on in his descendants who have taken national and international honors, such as Vaquero HGF, Idolo Americano and Iliado II. Career highlights Over 25 FEI-Level Firsts or Second Placings, 6 at Grand Prix 8 Show or Association FEI High Point Awards In the Ribbons at 3 USDF Regional Championships at FEI-Levels. Vaquero HGF
Cuatrero IV x Encina HGF by Idilio II

Vaquero is a 2007 gray PRE gelding by Cuatrero IV out of Encina HGF (Idilio II), born at HGF in Fruitport, Michigan. As four-year-old, Vaquero finished in the top 10 at the National Young Horse Championships of Spain, and within the top 5 of the PRE breed. One year later, Vaquero finished again in the top 10, and first of all PRE horses at that level. As a 6 year old, he concluded the season with the third position in SICAB, as the first top-ranked PRE horse bred in the United States.  Partners for five years now, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF have been an unbreakable combination with a resume full of podiums. In 2015, Kerrigan took the reins and together they climbed the different FEI levels. As an 8-year-old, Vaquero HGF ridden by Kerrigan won the Bronze Medal at NAJYRC and became the Reserve National Champion.  Their successes continued and in 2016, this duo got selected for the European Tour. They concluded the USEF Young Rider Euro Tour in the ribbons at the Young Riders Nations Cup in Hagen (Future Champions), Germany, capping a six-week tour of Europe that included two international shows. In 2018 they debuted in the U25 level with scores around 68%. Two years later, at their peak of their level, Kerrigan Gluch and Vaquero HGF took home the runner up Title of the Brentina Cup Dressage National Championship.

Official Statement on Santiago HGF

Following an outstanding spring season in the United States, highlighted by impressive performances at the CDI Ocala and CDI TerraNova, and culminating at the CDI Segovia, Santiago HGF, ridden by Antonio Crespín, earned his selection for the 2026 FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses. In recent days, Santiago HGF suffered an incident that required veterinary attention. Although he was progressing well, as a precautionary measure he was referred to a veterinary hospital in Belgium to verify that everything was evolving as expected and to undergo a comprehensive examination. Following the necessary diagnostic tests and the assessment of the veterinary team, the decision was made to withdraw him from competition. From the very beginning, the horse's health and welfare have been our absolute priority. Kim Van Kampen commented:  “Of course we’re disappointed but we are also experienced horse people and things go this way sometimes. In this case we had a choice to make and we chose the safest option for the horse. We don’t want to show a horse that is not 100%. We stand with the Spanish team and wish them the best of luck and a wonderful week in Verden” We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved, especially the veterinary team, for their professionalism, dedication, and outstanding care. Finally, we would like to wish the very best of luck to all the members of the P.R.E team who will represent Spain at the 2026 FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses.

From Ocala to Segovia: Santiago HGF Podiums in Final Qualifier for ANCCE PRE Team

With the FEI WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Verden firmly in sight (04-09 August), the final CDIYH qualifying event for the ANCCE PRE Team selection took place from June 16-18 at the Centro Ecuestre de Castilla y León (CECYL) in Segovia, Spain. The competition represented the last opportunity for owners, breeders and riders to secure the scores required for selection to the Spanish PRE Team heading to Verden this August. FROM OCALA TO SEGOVIA Following a successful spring campaign in the United States, including strong performances at the CDI Ocala and CDI TerraNova, Santiago HGF made the journey from Florida to Spain for this mandatory selection event. The five-year-old stallion, bred by Hampton Green Farm and ridden by Antonio Crespín, faced a highly competitive field of 12 horses, the largest and most competitive age group of the show. Judged by an international panel consisting of Juan Carlos Campos, Knut Danzberg, and Hans Voser, two of whom will officiate at the World Championships in Verden next month, Santiago HGF delivered another solid performance.  The son of Grandioso III x  Joyero XXIV finished third in the preliminary test with a score of 77.200% and fifth place in the final with  73.800%. CECYL( Centro Ecuestre de Castilla y León) in Segovia holds a special place in Hampton Green Farm’s history. In 2018, José Daniel Martín Dockx competed there with Mejorano HGF, another son of Grandioso III, obtaining the qualifying scores required for the FEI World Championships in the seven-year-old division. A year later, the pair returned to compete at Intermedia A/B level. The farm also has fond memories of Campanero HGF, who contested the selection process for the five-year-old division at the same venue in 2019. ROAD TO VERDEN The 2026 season has been demanding for young dressage horses, with an intensive calendar and a highly competitive selection process requiring consistency throughout the year. The qualification  pathway in Spain included CDI in Jerez de la Frontera, Vejer de la Frontera, Murcia, Medina Sidonia, Madrid, and finally Segovia, where participation was mandatory for horses seeking selection to the ANCCE Team. With the final qualifier now complete, all eyes turn to ANCCE, which is expected to announce its team selection in the coming days.

American-Bred Santiago HGF Leaves Ocala for First Euro Tour

Santiago HGF, a 2021 PRE Stallion by Grandioso III, is making the long journey from his home in Ocala to Segovia, Spain, just outside of Madrid. Santi is currently qualified in the FEI 5 Year Old division for Spain for the Selection Trials for the World Championship of Young Horses.  As a member of the World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses, ANCCE, the PRE Studbook, establishes the qualifications for their representation at the World Championships, held later in the summer in Germany. Young horses across Spain, as in other European countries, have been vying since January for the minimum scores to qualify for the team. Final selection will be made following the CDI in Segovia, June 16-18, and upon health and soundness verifications.  Hampton Green Farm rider Antonio Crespin Lopez and Santi debuted this Spring in Ocala and Terranova at the international FEI 5 Year Old level, achieving high scores over 80% at both shows, which made Santi now the second US-bred horse to ever qualify for Young Horse team selection trials in Spain--the first being Santi's half-brother Mejorano HGF (also by Grandioso III) who competed for Spain in the FEI 7 Year Old Division at Ermelo in 2018 with Jose Daniel Martin Dockx.  Santi will now compete alongside top 5 year old representatives from the most prestigious breeding farms in Spain. Santiago HGF was born in Michigan and is a son of two-time Olympic mount Grandioso. He is out of a daughter of Joyero XXIV, an Elite stallion from of the Ganaderia Francisco Santiago in Malaga. Hampton Green Farm's owner Kimberly Van Kampen named the horse in remembrance of the generosity of the mare's breeder to her during her visit to his farm.  Prior to starting his dressage career, Santi was Champion Stallion at Fiesta Ocala at Ibericon 2025, and Stallion of the Year for USPRE in 2025.

HGF Horses Shine at the North American Youth Championships 2025

Hampton Green Farm proudly celebrated the success of its U.S.-bred PRE horses at the 2025 Discover Dressage / FEI North American Youth Dressage Championships, held at Flintfields Horse Park. Over the years, HGF horses have achieved great success at the youth categories, such as Vaquero HGF ridden by Kerrigan Gluch ( YR/U25), as well as Campanero HGF along with Justine Boyer at the Junior level.  NAYC is the prestigious event, one of the most important youth dressage competitions in North America. This year 2025, Sophia Shults riding Conocido HGF (2012 PRE gelding by Cosaco XI x Luz de Luna HGF), delivered an outstanding performance in the CDIU25 division, earning the individual silver medal. The pair also secured a podium finish in the Intermedia II, adding another achievement to their record ending in second position.  Last but not least, Claire Barahona partnered with Morisco HGF (2013 gelding by Camarón IX x Mora HGF)  claimed  third place with a new personal best score of 71.096%. These results reflect Hampton Green Farm’s commitment to developing U.S.-bred PRE horses for modern dressage and our horses are perfect match for elite sport, and also for youth classes.

Mica Mabragana Takes First FEI Win of 2012 with Cuatrero

At last weekend's Gold Coast Opener in Wellington, HGF Rider Mica Mabragan debuted 11 year old Cuatrero in the National PSG and Intermediare I. Cuatrero (Cuatrera x Adelante) is the younger brother to Grandioso (Cuatrera is the dam of Grandiosa), 2011 Champion of Spain. He was last competed in early 2008 at 2nd level. Shortly after he went to Courtney King Dye who was preparing him for the small tour at the time of her injury. Cuatrero returned to HGF, but developed a hoof condition that took many months to correct. Thanks to the patience and skills of Dr. Steele and HGF farrier Mike Phillips, Cuatrero returned to work with Mica last summer. On Friday, In his first class in four years and first time at FEI-level, the pair placed in the PSG but were still a bit rusty with a 62%. On Saturday, Cuatrero was more on his game and Mica rode a beautiful Inter-1 to win the close-scoring class with 65.6. A spontaneous round of applause after the ride from the attending Judges' forum topped off the morning. Mica is very pleased with her stallion and we are all looking forward to more good news from this pair. Cuatrero is the sire of Vaquero HGF, trained by Daniel Martin, who placed in the top 5 PREs at the National Young Horse Championships in Spain as a four year old last fall. Cuatrero is also the sire to Diva HGF and Bohemia HGF.

Daniel Martin Dockx' Other Projects

We have just returned from Malaga, Spain, where we had a chance to photograph some of our up-and-coming FEI horses. In addition to Grandioso, Daniel has three HGF horses in training: Vaquero HGF (Cuatrero x Idilio; 2007)--nationally top-ranked PRE in Young Horse Division and Copa ANCCE Conquero HGF (Cosaco x Cantora: 2007)--not competed to date Bolero CXLVIII--(Utrerano x Urano II)--well-known breeding stallion for HGF and half-brother to Fuego de Cardenas, recently re-purchased by HGF and returned to our training program. Groom Mohamed Dana assists Daniel in his program.

Toledo (Madrid) CDI3*: Team HGF Tops the Boards

Daniel Martin Dockx brought two horses to the CDI in Toledo, Spain, just outside of Madrid: Grandioso III and Vaquero HGF. With Grandioso, the pair won the Grand Prix on Friday, topping a class of 15 with 70.7%. On Sunday, they clinched the Kur with 75.00%, which should improve their FEI individual world ranking even higher from their current 48th place position. Not a bad place to be in their second year together at international Grand Prix. Six year old Vaquero HGF (Cuatrero X Idilio) finished the weekend as the top PRE in the young horse classes--with both the highest single score (73.8) and the highest average of all the young horse classes--to win the Copa ANCCE for the weekend. Congratulations to our Spanish team! Next stop on the road to Denmark is Austria! Picture Credits: Pedro Godinho

Hampton Green Farm's Idilio II to Retire from Competition

Hampton Green Farm's Idilio II to Retire from Competition Hampton Green Farm and Kim Boyer announce the retirement ofIdilio II from formal Dressage competition. Idilio is a coming 17 year old PRE stallion who was one of the first PREs to compete in FEI-level Dressage in the United States and as of this year is the oldest PRE horse competing at the International levels in this country. In September, Idilio was selected by his rider's native Argentina to represent that country in the 2011 Pan American Games. Over the years, Idilio's competitive career has helped to pave the way for other PRE horses in this country by his correct and impressive performances in the show ring, not to mention his exceptional beauty which has attracted many riders to the PRE breed. His legacy lives on in his offspring which have won National Championships in Open Breed divisions, are consistently scoring over 70% with their amateur and professional owners, as well as topping large fields of FEI four and five-year old classes in Germany and Spain. Idilio II was born in the Huelva region of Spain, close to the Portuguese border. His sire was a full-brother to two-time Champion of Movement of SICAB, Spain's national breed competition. Idilio's dam was the daughter of one of Spain's early Grand Prix competitors, Flamenco XII (who is also sire to France's 2011 National Champion Helio II), and derived from much-desired lines for movement from the Yeguada Marin Garcia. Idilio was first discovered in Spain in 1999 by US rider David De Wispelaere who approached Hampton Green Farm with an investment proposal. When the horse arrived in Florida in 2000 as a five year old, HGF owner Kimberly Boyer decided to buy out De Wispelaere's portion and keep the horse, a decision which eventually led to the exclusive focus of HGF as a PRE breeding and showing operation. Idilio was trained to Prix St. George level by De Wispelaere who competed him successfully at the national levels in Wellington prior to David's move to Europe. Afterward, Pati Pierucci took over the training of Idilio. During this period, he was shown at Grand Prix and competed with very promising scores in national classes in both Michigan and Florida. In 2006 German Olympian Martin Schaudt worked with Pati and Idilio and was so impressed with his nature, trainability and athleticism that he purchased one of Idilio's foals, Icono HGF--currently competing with great success at the Five Year Old level in Germany with his wife Jasmin Schaudt. In 2008, Maria Lithander of Wellington Florida took over the ride on Idilio and the decision was made to return to the Small Tour to work out some training issues that had developed following an injury. Maria's work with Idilio eventually saw him ranked in the USDF Top 15 Small Tour horses in the country in 2009. Currently Idilio is ridden and competed by long-time Lendon Gray student and former international Young Rider Mica Mabragana who, following a year of hard work and excellent riding, received the crowning honor of Idilio's career--the invitation from a national federation to represent a country at an international championship. "Now is the right time to take Idilio out of formal competition," says owner Kimberly Boyer. " Mica, Lendon and I feel that Idilio has put in many years under the pressure of multiple riders and lots of competitions, and now he has earned the right to move to the next chapter. Idilio is still very energetic about his work and Mica hopes to play around again with the Grand Prix movements. She is planning to prepare several freestyles for him to be able to perform for exhibition. He is the kind of horse that will want to be worked until his last day, but now without the tension of showing. We are hopeful to showcase his beauty and abilities for many years to come, if he wants it. And of course, he will continue to be a breeding stallion for HGF mares." Idilio did not achieve his full potential at Grand Prix due to many factors, not the least of which was his being one of the first Spanish Horses in the United States to enter the top competitions. There were both ups and downs in Idilio's career, but to all who have seen him or who have had the privilege to sit on him or train him, he is unforgettable. Career Highlights: Over 25 FEI-Level Firsts or Second Placings, 6 at Grand Prix 8 Show or Association FEI High Point Awards In the Ribbons at 3 USDF Regional Championships at FEI-Levels. Multiple USDF All Breeds Champion for PRE Horses at Prix St. George through Grand Prix. Ranked in Top 15 National Prix St. George horses in 2009. Top 20 Adult Stallions at SICAB, 2002. Where Are They Now?: Icono HGF, Genio HGF and Martin and Jasmine Schaudt

We had the pleasure to visit Icono and Genio this summer at Martin and Jasmine Schaudt's barn in Stuttgart, Germany. This has been a big summer for Icono, who has been showing in the FEI Five Year Old Classes with Jasmine and achieving top placings in each showing. In three separate shows from July through September, three panels of judges have placed Jasmine and Icono in First or Second place, with scores up to 8.2% in classes of over 20 horses, including former Four Year Old and Five Year Old champions of the Trakhener and German Young Horse circuits. Jasmine, wife of German Gold Medalist Martin Schaudt, is the rider and trainer of both Icono HGF (Idilio II x Escapada) and Genio HGF (Grandioso III x Ibiza), two five year old PREs purchased by Martin in 2006 in Michigan when both horses were still at their dam's sides. Martin is known for his passion for young horses, and in 2006-7 was riding and training the sires of his horses, Idilio and Grandioso, at Hampton Green Farm. Genio is a full brother to Robert Dover's 2008 Fiero HGF and has not been shown yet. Icono and Genio are Jasmine's first experience with PREs. Jasmine is best known as the former owner and rider of Girasol, Nadine Capellmann's Olympic-hopeful mare and half-sibling to Totilas, with whom she obtained scores to 70% in German national Grand Prix classes. About competing in a Young Horse Class in Germany with a PRE, Jasmine laughs: "When I first enter the ring on Icono, I get a lot of comments like 'how exotic...'. But when he starts to move, the smiles freeze!" After three shows with top results, it looks like their success is becoming a trend. Jasmine and Martin are planning to keep both young horses for the time being, with the goal of training them to Grand Prix.

Gold Coast Opener Results: the Teamwork of Ana Gilmour and Bolero

Ana Gilmour continues her successes in Wellington with great results on HGF's young stallion Bolero. At the Gold Coast Opener on January 23-25, Ana again scored over 70% with Bolero and added another big win to his show record. Ana finished competitively in all classes with both Bolero and Camaron and she is now looking forward to the Wellington Classic Spring Challenge on February 6-8. Bolero is a 2004 Bay PRE Stallion out of Utrerano VII. Not yet 5 years old and still very much a colt, Bolero has already won many ANCCE breed awards and USDF Sport Horse awards, as well as scored over 70% at every dressage show in which he has competed. Bolero is a promising future prospect for the FEI show ring for HGF, and is sire to a number of 2009 HGF foals. Gold Coast Opener Highlights for Ana Gilmour and Bolero: Bolero Training 1 67.391 Second Place Training 2 69.286 Third Place Training 4 71.6 First Plac
